A message from Wayne Gethings, Group Chief Executive
Wayne explains why your rent is increasing during 2025/26
My name is Wayne Gethings and I am the Group Chief Executive of Housing Plus Group. From April, the rent for the majority of our customers will rise by 2.7%, I want to take this opportunity to explain why this decision has been made, how the additional income will be used, and the support available if you are concerned about paying your rent.
Each year, we review our rents and carefully consider any changes. The Government sets your rent based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September 2024, plus 1%. The CPI is a commonly used measure of inflation which measures changes in the prices of goods. In September, the CPI was 1.7%. This means we will be increasing your rent by 2.7% from April 2025.
We understand that any increase in costs can be challenging, and this decision has not been taken lightly. However, this increase is essential to help us continue delivering the services and support you rely on. It also enables us to meet rising costs and invest in improving homes and neighbourhoods across our communities.
The additional income will be reinvested in:
- Maintaining and improving your homes: We are investing £6.4m so we can continue to upgrade homes, making them safer, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient.
- Enhanced community services: Supporting local projects, improving communal spaces, and ensuring you have access to vital services.
- Customer support: Expanding our advice and support services for those facing financial difficulties.
We are committed to making sure every penny is spent in ways that make a real difference to you and your community.
