Wrekin staff scale new heights on the Peak District Challenge
Wrekin Housing Group staff members pushed themselves to the limit as they undertook the Peak District Challenge to raise money for charity.
The three-strong team braved thunder storms and torrential rain to complete the gruelling 50km trek through the Peak District National Park. The team raised an amazing £1600 in total for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Peak District Challenge is a series of trekking and running challenges. There are also options for different levels of experience and fitness, from 10km, to a day-long walk that is suitable for most, to an ultra-marathon for experienced hill walkers and runners.
Susannah Chard, Training Manager with The Wrekin Housing Group and one of the members of staff who took part in the challenge, said the following:
"It was a really tough challenge but an experience that we all really enjoyed.
"We had to walk through torrential rain, but we pulled together and overcame the challenge as a team.
"It was incredibly rewarding to complete the challenge, but the most rewarding part for us was knowing that the money we raise will go directly to helping the Alzheimer’s society."
