Retirement living and community centre showcased
Amanda Milling MP recently visited a community centre and retirement accommodation at Chasewood ShireLiving on Longford Road in Cannock.
The facility, which is operated by The Wrekin Housing Group, includes community space, a café and extra care retirement living accommodation, along with a doctors surgery, and is a vibrant hub which welcomes members of the public, patients and residents.
During her visit Amanda met staff and residents who were able to explain the benefits of the flexible extra-care service that is offered by ShireLiving. Amanda also toured the community space which is used by a range of community groups and charities including the St. Johns Ambulance and an arts and crafts group.
Amanda said: “It was great to visit the accommodation and have a look at the facilities. The site offers a number of creature comforts and important facilities that help older residents live full independent lives together in their shared community. It is a great facility to have in Cannock Chase.”
Social landlord The Wrekin Housing Group also provide family homes for affordable rents across Cannock, Staffordshire and Shropshire. Wayne Gethings, The Wrekin Housing Group’s Chief Executive said “We will more than double the number of homes we have for affordable rent in Cannock and Rugeley over the next couple of years so it has been great to show Amanda around Chasewood and explain our approach to housing and care for the people of Staffordshire.”
