Moving closer to family inspired creative new hobby

Eleanor and her husband Kevin moved into our Withywood, ShireLiving scheme four years ago.

Moving to be nearer to family in Shrewsbury Eleanor, who had worked as a social worker for twenty years had experience with helping people into care or receiving care at home. When it came to their own new home the couple wanted to live somewhere that offered them choice in the future.

Eleanor say’s “It’s amazing, everything is thought out from maintenance to care on the spot. We like to get out and about as much as possible but enjoy the outdoor terraces here too. We are very independent.”

Moving closer to town also meant that Eleanor was able to easily access a creative writing course at a nearby arts centre. This is where she discovered her love of research writing extended to a talent for fiction. Shortly after completing the course Eleanor published her first book on Amazon under her mother’s name Molly Wilson, titled Unexpected Consequences the book featured 10 short stories of dastardly deeds.

Now, having recently completed her latest work, a comedy thriller/horror; that is not for the faint hearted, Eleanor says; “I learnt I had a skill I never knew I had! I’m very interested in research and this helps to create a great story. My knowledge of research comes from academic study for my two degrees. This enabled me to combine research with fiction for my books. There is a lot of research that has gone into my new novella, you need light and shade. Writing is a very enjoyable hobby and the contentment that life at Withywood provides is in no small way an important component.”

Eleanor is already writing her third book and we are intrigued to hear how this next story develops.
