If you’re looking for somewhere to meet friends for a slice of cake and a catch up, or have a craving for a full English, the Ashwood café welcomes everyone. Thankfully, you don’t have to live at the ShireLiving scheme to use the café as it’s open to the public.
Everything in the café is freshly prepared by professional chefs and Service Manager, Teresa Tudor, said it’s a popular meeting place for people in the town; “We have very adaptable chefs in the kitchen who can rustle anything up, from a mushroom omelette to a delicious Sunday roast.”
“The menu changes daily and includes hot favourites like lasagne and jacket potatoes, as well as salads and sandwiches. We are open for breakfast in the morning and offer everything from porridge to a full English breakfast.”
“The Sunday roast has become a firm favourite with both residents and visitors, added Teresa. “Our two talented chefs, Duncan and Lucy, have created a delicious menu using locally sourced produce. On the last Wednesday of the month we have themed meal nights where we serve different cuisines. So far we’ve enjoyed Indian, Italian, Mexican and Chinese nights – also our steak night went down very well.”
However, it’s not just the delicious food that tempts people to live at Ashwood. This convenient development is located off Upper Ash Road, Oswestry, close to the town centre. Its rented apartments and bungalows offer peace of mind and security to those looking to enjoy a hassle free retirement as it has been designed exclusively for the over 55s. The café, together with residents’ lounges and landscaped gardens offers space for relaxation and socialising.
The team offer popular events such as the bake off and seasonal fetes.
“In the summer we host BBQs and high teas and we have plans to do more with the local community including the nearby nursery.”
A 24 hour onsite team of friendly and supportive staff led by Teresa organise social and leisure activities and also offer a range of flexible care and support services which are tailored to individual needs.
The café is open from 8.30am to 3pm, with breakfast served until 10.30am and lunch from 12pm to 1.30pm. Freshly made cakes and snacks are available until 3pm.
