Annual rent letter – further information
We have written to all our customers outlining their new rent from April 2022. The 4.1% rent increase is set using a Government formula, in line with inflation.
Where do you spend my rent?
Your rent payments allow us to continue to make a difference to people’s lives. This will enable us to deliver more high quality services and invest in our customers’ homes, all at a time where our own costs are increasing.
During the financial year 2022/23 we will:
- Maintain your sector leading 8/8 repairs service, 7 days a week.
- Increase our investment in providing money and debt advice, employability schemes and driving social value across the community by more than 15%
- Install 2,461 new bathrooms, kitchens, windows and other improvements to our customers’ homes, representing an investment of £13.4m
- Invest in new build homes, enabling 450 more families and individuals to live in Wrekin properties.
How is the rent calculated?
Our rents are regulated by the Government. Increases are capped in line with inflation (CPI) plus 1% each September. CPI in September 2021 was 3.1%, plus 1% gives us the increase of 4.1%. Inflation is now running at 5% and is likely to increase to 7% in April.
What support is available to customers?
We offer a wide range of tenancy sustainment, money advice and other support services. These services are available to all customers.
