A big thank you goes a long way

The Shropshire Star has launched its Great Big Thank you Awards 2019 campaign in search of the hidden heroes within our local communities. Once again, The Wrekin Housing Group will be sponsoring three of those awards categories.
The Wrekin Housing Trust is sponsoring the 'Community Champion Award' and our partner Choices is sponsoring the 'Carer Award' and looking for a deserving winner of the 'Young Star Award', with ShireLiving sponsoring the 'Grandparent of the Year Award'.
As an organisation supporting Shropshire's communities, we feel it's important for us to help recognise some of the wonderful people who live in our areas.
The awards aim to find the outstanding and selfless individuals and groups across the region who make a difference to the people around them.
If you know someone who deserves to be considered, you can see a full list of awards categories and the criteria judges will be looking for, including the online nomination form at https://starthankyou.shropshirestar.co.uk or by clicking the link at the side of this article.
You could nominate family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues, or someone who you have heard about and found their story inspirational.
Remember, we can't say a 'Great Big Thank You' to anyone unless you tell us about them!
If someone jumps to mind, online nominations close at midnight on Saturday, 18th May. All paper nominations must be received by 5pm on Friday, 24th May. Send your nominations to: The Editor, The Great Big Thank You Awards, Shropshire Star, Waterloo Road, Ketley, Telford, TF1 5HU.
A panel of judges will then shortlist finalists in each of the eleven categories.
The chosen winners, each with a guest, will be invited to a heart-warming afternoon of celebration and recognition at the Hadley Park House Hotel in the autumn.
