16 days of action ends as commitment remains

Following last month’s White Ribbon Day; 16 days of action against domestic violence today comes to an end.

Over the last two weeks staff at Wrekin have promised never to commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women. As well as pinning on White Ribbons, staff have signed a pledge board and made their promise online at whiteribbon.org.uk.

The commitment doesn’t end here though as all Wrekin staff are continuing to undertake training in Domestic Abuse and other safeguarding measures, understanding the signs of hidden harm and how to signpost to support if needed.

Wayne Gethings, Group Chief Executive says; “Everyone can make a difference by thinking of their own behaviour and being prepared to call out sexist and harassing behaviour when they see it. I want to encourage all men to listen to women and learn to be allies, so that we can end violence against women once and for all.”

If you are experiencing or are concerned about domestic abuse, you can call the freephone 24 hour National Domestic Violence Helpline run in partnership between Women's Aid and Refuge on 0808 2000 247 (this service is for both men and women).

You can also find information and links to support on our domestic abuse page.
